This is a truely great trip at a time when the weather in the UK is rather too cold for golf so why not jet off to the the Sunshine State. There are so many good golf resorts to choose from it is hard to decide, however The Doral Golf Resort in Miami is one of the best. There are 5 championship golf courses on site as well as the Bosa Nova Lounge for one of their mohitos and The Mesazul Steakhouse for a fillet steak. Miami has so much to offer other than golf, Ocean Drive for the Art Deco district and world famous South Beach or Collins Avenue for the fabulous boutiques. This is a great place to visit so book today.

Biarritz 2010

The 2010 Ziggy Trophy proved to be one of the best competitions yet, it was a great week of golfing on some of the finest golf courses in Biarritz and although the eventual winner has been close a few times before he had yet to get his name on the cup. However, Adrian Talpade was consistently in the 30s this week and won the Trophy with a 4 round score of 125 on some tough and challenging courses, well done Adrian. Ed Robinson played well all week and pushed him all the way but for an unfortunate attack of food poisoning (or was it the Manzana?!) on the last day he might have been the winner this year. Competators Serge Bajada and Kym Edwards(the defending champion) put in a good showing but in the end 2nd and 3rd place went to Rob Poole and Tim Barlow respectively. Many thanks to all who took part. Will.

St Andrews 2010

Congratulations to Cherine Chalaby, winner of the Ziggy Trophy at St Andrews 2010. Well played to all who took part, Mr Chalaby showed that consistancy is the name of the game in golf as he was the only player to score in the 30s on all 4 days of the St Andrews week and claim the Ziggy Trophy, so well done to Cherine. The prize giving was held at The Royal Automobile Club, Epsom on the 28th of May.

Will Murray Golf - St Andrews 2010

This year the Links of St Andrews saw one of the strongest fields contesting for the right to claim the Ziggy Trophy. Despite The Old Course being shut in order to prepare it for The Open in July we had a great line up of courses.Day 1 was on Lundin Links, founded in 1868 it is a true classic links course following the beautiful Scottish coastline. The course was in great condition as always and Ciro won the day with an impressive 37 points.

Day 2 was on St Andrews Bay Torrance course, recently redesigned to improve and toughen it up as it is due to be used as an Open Qualifing venue. It has a new layout and proved an enjoyable challenge with fantastic views out over the water. Winner on day 2 was Malcolm Dalgleish with 36 points. That evening we ate at Ziggys Steakhouse, which consistantly produces some of the best steaks in St Andrews, always the perfect end to a tough day on the course.

Day 3 was on everybodys favourite, Kingsbarns (see picture showing par 3 15th). A total joy from start to finish, first rate serive from the staff, brand new titleist practise balls on the range, the best caddies, an ever immaculate golf course with a superb layout and a great view all the way round. Finishing with a beer in the clubhouse sitting looking out over the Scottish coast line. No wonder it is still the groups number one choice. Winner of day 3 was Grant with a very impressive 41 points, highest score of the week.

Finally day 4 we played on St Andrews Jubilee Course, another classic links which runs directly along side The Old Course hugging the coast. Some say it is the toughest of the St Andrews courses although Geoff Bell tamed it with an impressive 37 points. The eventual winner was Mr Cherine Chalaby, who showed that consistancy is the name of the game in golf as he was the only player to score in the 30s on all 4 days and claim the Ziggy Trophy, so well done to Cherine. The prize giving will be held at The Royal Automobile Club, Epsom on the 28th of May.

Many thanks to all who took part this year, Will Murray.
